UVI Professor Becomes First Certified Legal Nurse Consultant in the USVI

AALNC would like to issue a disclaimer regarding the difference between a certificate program and LNCC certification. Certification generally refers to an earned credential that demonstrates the holder's specialized knowledge, skills, and experience. Certification differs from a certificate program (completed by Dr. Celia Nurse, RN, MSN, PhD), which is usually an educational offering that confers a document at the program's conclusion. LNCC is the only legal nurse consulting credential recognized by AALNC and accredited by ABSNC. To learn more, visit our Certification vs. Certificate page.
Dr. Celia Nurse, RN, MSN, PhD, has become the first certified legal nurse consultant in the U.S. Virgin Islands. Nurse is a University of the Virgin Islands professor and program chair for the School of Nursing. She has a Master of Science in nursing education and a PhD in nursing concentrating on healthcare administration. "I hope to remind all nurses in the territory that, in nursing, the more education you have, the more options you have and the more you can positively impact quality patient centered care on broader scales," said Nurse. Commenting on this achievement, Mary Beverely Lansiquot, dean of the School of Nursing, said: "I have no doubt that the knowledge gained from this certification course will enhance the content related to the legal aspects of nursing in delivery of the courses she teaches. As an alumna of the UVI School of Nursing, Dr. Nurse makes all UVI alumni proud."
