Cerebral’s Preferred Pharmacy Truepill Halts Adderall Prescriptions for All Customers

Truepill, a mail-order pharmacy that fills drug orders for Cerebral and other telehealth companies, has decided to suspend prescriptions for certain controlled substances used to treat ADHD. The move affects prescriptions of Adderall and other stimulants that can help patients with the mental health disorder but that also have a high potential for abuse. Truepill said it is acting out of "an abundance of caution" in response to reports that telehealth upstarts focused on ADHD have been overprescribing Adderall and similar medications. Walmart, CVS Health, and Walgreens Boots Alliance reportedly all have either blocked or delayed filling prescriptions for such companies or have blocked individual prescribers. Cerebral, which bills Truepill as its preferred provider, said the decision affects less than 2% of its overall prescriptions. It directed its clinicians to use local pharmacies to fill orders of Adderall and other drugs currently not available through Truepill.
